I find it very interesting that you had to plead the blood of Jesus over your son. Did’nt the uncut hair have enough power. Please wake up.
It is by faith and the blood of Christ that we are made whole. Jesus always made it very clear that by your faith you are made whole, not by your uncut hair.
We have bought into something that is taking the place of Christ in our lives. No where in the scripture do you find anything that says that uncut hair provides protection for a womans family.

Another thing, in Ruth Reider Harvey’s book she makes a snide comment about a young lady whose husband left her after she cut her hair. I would like to know why Ruth Reider Harvey’s uncut hair did’nt stop her first husband from leaving her.
I think she needs to study the scriptures concerning divorce and remarriage, but apparently that is accepted among us as long as our hair remains uncut.

The issues on hair is one ive been struggling with for many years. I have been in church for 30 yrs and have not seen the divine revelation on hair. Are you saying if you have ever cut your hair but than stop you can never receive that power and protection because your hair has been cut before? or if one discontinues cutting their hair they will begin receiving authority that comes with not cutting their hair? please explain. Thank you

I am a member of the United Pentecostal Church. My husband and I pastor a church in Morgan Hill, California. It’s a small home missions work.

I love my uncut hair. I think it is beautiful. I do not cut my hair because of the New Testament scriptures in I Corinthians 11. “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. (vrs 1 -2 I Corinthians 11). That’s how I Corinthians starts off.

“For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels” (vrs. 10).

Because it is written in the Holy Bible not to cut my hair, I do not cut my hair. I am obedient to the word of God as it has been given to me. I take full responsibility for that position.

I believe the Word is true, and that it was given to Paul, for us, as Christian Believers, to help the churches, and therefore I follow it. I obey it gladly, with full contentment. It is specified as a church ordinance. Some may not understand it to be, and therefore do not follow it. I cannot change a person’s mind, on their interpretation of that chapter in our Bible. I can only do my best to be responsible for what I have been given.

I just read Kelli’s blog, and I read the above replies.

There are many stories within the Holy Bible where God has required individuals, (Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, even the disciples of Christ) or Israel, to do certain things that don’t make any human sense, but mean a lot to God.

The significance of uncut hair must be important to God, if it is mentioned in the New Testament Bible.

In the Old Testament found in the Book of Ezekiel, chapter 5, The prophet was required by God to take a sharp knife and cut his hair. “Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part and smite about it with a knife; and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them. Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts. (verse 2) The hair represented Israel, and the remnant that would remain: A few in number.

There were so many ordinances, customs and dietary laws required of Israel, that we, as the New Testament church are not required to follow. Mainly because Christ became that High Priest, Mediator, Atoning Sacrifice, and (Lamb of God). Everything was completed at the Cross of Calvary for our salvation. So the question remains, why would Paul specifically address this ordinance to the Church? And we are the Living Church. We are his body; his hands, his feet, his love; the light, the salt of the Earth. We are all these things.

    Steadfast in the Scriptures: KJV
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” II Timothy 3:14-17

The question is, do Christian believe that All scripture is given by inspiration of God? And that all ordinances given to us in our New Testament should be carried out to the best of the Believer’s ability?

Jesus said, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:46-49. (The house Built on a Rock).

Faith: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:21

I Corinthians 11 is called by KJV Nelson Study Bible, “the Veiling of Women”. It speaks of The Head of Christ is God; The head of man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man. (found in verse 3). It discusses order in public worship. Angels, found in verse 10, actually refers to “ministering spirits”, sent by God to aid, and protect Christians. (Hebrews 1:14). The keynote of Paul’s thought is submission to God in recognizing their true position and fulfilling its claims.

In a day and age where styles, and clothing reflect name brands, and position; I feel that hair, (this of course is my opinion), outwardly reflects a person’s gender, and full acceptance of that role. I am a woman, I submit to my husband. I am feminine; I dress like a woman. My hair is long and uncut. My husband, submits to what is required of him; he wears clothing pertaining to a man, and when we come into the house of God, because we have submitted to the ordinances in the Holy Bible, God honors our worship and praise by the manifestation of His glory and, “Recognizes our worship and praise as holy”: ” sweet smelling aroma”. My husband and I were married; He is the head; I am his wife. We accept our roles, and submit to them. I believe that the Lord dispatches ministering angels, and that we operate as a Church, in full authority of God, when women do not cut their hair, because they are following this ordinances in I Corinthians 11.

Power comes from a disciplined submission to God, and it is solely his. I believe that if we pray, according to His will, it will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. The Bible records, as Believers, we have been given power to tread on scorpions, and snakes; I don’t believe that refers to physical scorpions or snakes, but in the spiritual realm against demonic activity and Satan himself, as we intercede and war for the lost. More importantly when we stand the gap, and be the breach for our loved ones. The Bible says,

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”. Ephesians 6:12 (This reference referring to the Whole Armor of God for the Spiritual Man).

So here’s a thought: if an individual does not submit to the ordinances of God, and wants to engage in battle against these above forces, would he be covered under that hedge of protection: God, Christ, Man, Woman, (submission to authority), which I believe is hidden under the shadow of the Almighty. See Psalm 91

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. (verse 1-7).

I believe it matters to God. I believe we should obey the ordinances as they have been given to us. And though we may not understand the impact it has, I believe in the end, we will understand it better. Just as the old hymn book records.
